…SEE WHAT WE DID THERE?

WE’VE MADE THE ‘N’ TO ALSO REPRESENT THE NUMBER ‘8’. CLEVER, RIGHT?!

So, KGN 8 is the shortened form of Kingston 8. Kingston, as you may know, is the capital of Jamaica and Kingston 8 itself consists of several communities.

As with many areas in Jamaica, the post code is home to a range of socio-economic groups, ranging from the poor, to middle class to the wealthy.

Irrespective of the bills (money) in their pockets, one thing for sure, the fashion sense of these residents, is sic!

Origin of Name

Why did we name our brand Kingston 8? Well, in a nutshell, it’s the birthplace of the founder of this brand. Kingston 8 is also home to many famous dancehall artists, athletes and cricketers who have shared their talents around the world. With such accolades, can you blame us for wanting a brand that represents such swagger? After all, these Jamaican celebrities are known for their dope styles and fashion!

Each item in our sports accessories range is named after a Kingston 8 community, because we believe firmly that as you continue to succeed in life, you should never forget where you are coming from. It’s for that reason why our slogan is ‘HERE FOR A PURPOSE’. What does it mean? Simply put, wherever you go – be it country, school, job etc, always remember the why and the what – why are you there and what do you want to achieve? This is what kept our founder grounded, when she arrived over 20 years ago in the UK from Jamaica. The UK, as with many First World countries, has many opportunities, but only if you seek it. So, as they say in Jamaica, ‘we come here to drink milk, not count cow.’ In other words, focus on upliftment, don’t sweat the small things.

At the heart of all our products is our unique logo – our Rastafarian man with dreadlocks is decked out in his vest lifting the Kingston 8 beneath his strong arms. ‘WE’RE HERE FOR A PURPOSE.’
